One thing that the Internet has done is make it possible to work from home. Every American has the dream of owning their own business. Why don't more people own their own business? Usually because of the initial layout of money or the investment of time that is required at startup.

1. Having a computer is essential. You may go to the library however, you have no privacy and it does get tiring. You are not assured of security as when you are on your own computer. Laptops run about $500 now and are a good investment. As you grow your business you can upgrade to a desktop computer that offers you more memory and file storage.

2. Organizational software like Windows Office. This can be had for $149 and includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and one other program I can't recall at the moment. This ensures that your documents will be compatible with 95% of the rest of the world. Excel is great for keeping track of things like inventory, payables, receivables and pending orders or email addresses you need.

3. An idea for a product or service. This is the easy part and should come as naturally as swimming to a fish. Do a little research and see what's out there. Find something that is a bit different or entirely new altogether. Hint: The biggest selling products on the Internet are information products. Simple written material that has educational values.

It is easier to work from home right now than ever before. Online opportunities are everywhere and boundless. Go to one of the larger search engines like Google, Alta Vista, MSN and Yahoo and then type in 'work at home opportunities'. You will be amazed at the choices that are available to you.

The results will astound you and the choices presented to you will literally stymie the imagination.

You can get a lot of great ideas by doing this. You may find your idea already out there, then again you may not find it, which is a good thing. You will find what you need waiting there for you, no matter what you may be interested in selling.
